NURSE ATTITUDE ADOPTED DURING THE CARE AND THE PATIENT ANXIETY LEVEL IN THE PREOPERATIVE IN A PUBLIC HOSPITAL OF PISCO, PERU 2010.

Objective:To determine the attitude that takes the nurse in the care and the patient anxiety level undergoing surgery in the Surgery Department of Hospital San Juan de Dios in Pisco, March 2010. Material and Methods: a descriptive and cross-sectional was conducted, sample consists of 30 patients,who were selected through the intentional non-probabilistic sampling to establish quantitatively the level of anxiety was applied to test anxiety SAS author William W.Zung. Results:In relation to the attitude adopted by the nurse during patientcare isat87% favorable, moderately favorable by 13%.Concerning the level of anxiety,10% of patients have no anxiety,63% have mild anxiety and 27%,features moderate anxiety. Conclusions: The attitude that takes the nurse to patient care is favorable and mild anxiety is present in patients before surgery, so it is suggested that the hospital authorities, develop continuing education programs in health field psycho-emotional support to patients in the pre and postoperative for staff nurses with the aim of reducing the level of anxiety experienced by patients prior to surgery.
