HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN A GENERALHOSPITAL. PRELIMINARY STUDY.

Objective: To assess health management during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the perception of
the internal user of a general hospital in Ica, Peru. Materials and methods: Descriptive and cross-sectional
study, conducted at the Hospital Santa María del Socorro de Ica, during June to October 2020. The sample
consisted of 108 participants. Socio-labor data were collected and a 9-question scale-type instrument on
perception of health management was administered. Relative frequencies, means and standard deviations,
Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were calculated. Results: Of the participants, they were female
(73.1%); care occupational group (89.8%); nursing technician occupation (33.3%); contracted labor condition (54.6%); time of service <5 years (44,4%), the average age was 39 years. Health management was rated as inadequate by 31.5%, 57.4% to be improved and 11.1% adequate. Differences were significant according to length of service and age. Conclusions: Health management during the COVID-19 pandemic is rated as to be improved, according to the perception of the internal user of a general hospital in Ica, Peru.
