Abstract

Objective: to measure the concept of ethics, identify the most important ethical values and attitudes in the
formative process of students. Material and methods: it is a virtual survey study of 105 students in the
development of the ethics course at the Faculty of Medicine in 2020. Results: Only 10% have a good
concept of ethics; of the types of personal values, only 17% identify with personal fulfillment; of the types of
social values, 20% identify social justice; of the types of values of moral behavior, only 17% point to
responsibility and honesty. In relation to the four priority attitudes in teaching and learning, they point to
motivation and attention in the majority; and to receptivity and equity with a low percentage. Likewise, on the teaching of ethics the majority indicate its extension to more than two courses and by teachers prepared in ethics. Conclusions: Ethics, values of personal and social moral behavior, and attitudes to be prioritized in learning, are not clearly identified by students. The teaching of ethics should be prioritized and expanded in courses and with prepared teachers. Values education is a priority in the university curriculum.
