BIBLIOMETRICANALYSIS OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION INTHEREGIONOFICA, PERU. 1998-2010

Objective:To determine, througha bibliometric analysisbiomedical scientific productionin theregion ofIca, in the years1998-2010. Materialand methods: Bibliometricstudy, observational, cross sectional, we made asearchonlinedatabaseof articlespublished byinstitutionsinthe health sciencesin theIcaregionusingthesearch strategyforaffiliationandthekeywords,information obtained wasprocessedandexpressedinfrequencies. Results:We found56publicationsofwhich80.3%werein national magazines,publicationsofthe total66%were original articles, thelargest area ofresearchinterest inpublichealthwas44.6%, according tothedesignresearchusedthe77.5% werecross-sectionalanddescriptive, the institutionwith scientific productionwas theFacultad de Ciencias of theUniversidad NacionalSanLuisGonzaga, 41.5% ofauthorswereaffiliated with anotherregionofthe totalauthorsaffiliated withan institutionoftheIcaregion67.6%were men, themedicalprofessionwas the most frequentand biologistswith56.4% and 29.3% respectively. Conclusions:It is necessarythat institutions inhealth sciencesin theIcaregion, consider theimportance ofthepublicationas an indicatorofscientific production, fostering a cultureofpublicationto its members.
