Sleep quality and urinary incontinence in women from acomprehensive center for the elderly in Ica, Peru.

Objective: To determine the quality of sleep and the presence stress urinary incontinence in older adults of the Comprehensive Center for the Elderly (CIAM) of the District of Subtanjalla Ica, Peru 2019. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out, the sample was 43 older adults. The survey technique was used, as instruments the Pittsburg Test and the instrument the urinary incontinence test for women, measures of central tendency, use of frequencies and percentage analysis were applied. Results: 43 elderly women were surveyed, the majority aged between 71 and 80 years (n= 26; 60%), widows (n=15; 35%), with a secondary education degree (n=26; 60 %). Regular sleep quality prevailed (n=23; 53%),
followed by good sleep quality (n=12; 28%) and poor sleep quality (n=8; 19%). According to the type of incontinence, stress urinary incontinence was present (n=35; 81%). Conclusions: The quality of sleep according to the Pittsburg test was regular and stress urinary incontinence was present in the older adults of the Comprehensive Center for the Elderly of the District of
Subtanjalla Ica.
